Gorgeous Connecticut back road, also part of the Haddam Neck 5K Road Race route. I LOVE scenes like this! Had the chance to see the fairgrounds before the Haddam Neck Fair opened. Things looked great, and ready to roll!

One of my favorite stops along (and across!) the Connecticut River. Historic, quaint, waterside! Ferry operation for nearly 250 years.

A must-see Connecticut destination. The craggy stone architecture, clever carpentry and puzzle locks, views of the CT River, and neat story of the creative mind behind it all are captivating. I've visited the castle many times over the years, and I'm always entertained. Sherlock Holmes would approve!

One of our most treasured summer outings is our annual visit to the Opera House for Dad's birthday celebration. This year's show, Fiddler on the Roof. Song! Dance! Drama! History! Views of the Connecticut! Intermission cocktail (complete with Garson Jasper linens)! What's not to love?! "Tradition... TRADITION!"

This is the saltbox barn of my childhood - such a divine playground! Last weekend Garson and Jasper embarked on their own exploration, with my dad leading the tour. I, meanwhile, paused to take in the textures: silver-weathered wood, rough granite walls, barn beams (with bark!), filtered light. A couple most excellent Yankee touches along the way too.

Sunshine, nature, and overall gloriousness at the farm in Connecticut this week. Road tripped home to enjoy family and explore the outdoors, watching the world and all its wonders come alive. Textures, colors, and beauty all around, right there in the backyard...
